“Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value”.
It was Albert Einstein who said this, and it’s a philosophy for life that I often reflect on. To me, it makes perfect sense, and so it’s exactly what I strive to do in my role as Head of Security Consulting at The Missing Link. Every day, I provide technical direction and leadership to ensure red teaming, penetration testing and vulnerability assessments are delivered to the highest possible standards.
I consider myself fortunate to have found my way into this role – I’ve become one of few who is able to work at something I am truly passionate about while getting to work with and help, a huge variety of people, businesses and technologies.
Getting to where you are is part of the fun in life, and to get to my current position, I’ve spent decades working with all kinds of businesses – from boutique operations through to Fortune 500 companies. Along the way, I’ve been able to identify and remediate security issues in software, networking, people and processes. I’ve also achieved some serious certifications, having trained with the SANS Institute in red teaming and adversary emulation, and become a CREST advisory board member.
When I’m not focused on work, I enjoy spending time with my family and riding my motorbike. Being an IT fanatic, I can easily lose hours researching what’s going on around the world in terms of security and doing a little bit of my own IT architecting. In fact, my home is automated and run by a cluster of neural networks that I spent way too long creating.
